Charles C. Acton

Charles C. Acton, born on October 12, 1907, and passing away on June 11, 1988, was a respected educator and community leader who left a lasting legacy in Duncanville, Texas. Before settling in Duncanville, Acton spent approximately 20 years living in Justice Precinct 1, Delta County, Texas. He was deeply involved in his community and was a charter member of the Duncanville Noon Lions Club, playing a key role in its founding and early development.
Acton's most significant contributions were in the field of education. He served as Superintendent of Duncanville Independent School District from 1945 to 1951, a time of notable growth and progress for the district. His leadership helped shape the district's direction and laid the foundation for future success. In honor of his impact, the district named a school after him—Charles Acton Elementary, now known as the Charles Acton Leadership Academy. Located on South Cedar Ridge Drive in Dallas, the academy continues to serve students from Pre-K through fifth grade and focuses on developing leadership skills in young learners.
